The Shell Garden in Jersey

The Jersey Shell Garden was first created by a man by the name of Mr. Colin Soudain. Mr. Colin laid the first shells in the garden in 1957. He originally did this for his own pleasure and to enhance the surroundings of his newly built hillside home. Each year he would slowly add a little more to the garden which continued to grow and blossom. This unique and beautiful garden now exists on the three levels decorated with Dolphins, Doves, Sea Horses, mermaids, and much more. You will also find tons of flowers within the garden to contrast the amazing art work consisting of millions of different shells. When you visit us you will quickly see why The Jersey Shell Garden has now become one of Jersey's most unique and popular tourist attractions to tens of thousands of people each year.

Over the last eleven years the garden has been ran by Mr. John Morgan who still makes it his goal to carry on Collin's tradition of adding to the garden every year and aims to keep it a unique experience for all who visit. Mr. Collin is now 80 years young and still plays an active roll in the beauty of the garden. He also makes souvenirs which can be purchased in the shell shop.

During the winter months, the garden is closed to the public while new creation are put together for the next year. These creation are made using the shells and other materials which have been collected from Jersey's unique coastline over the summer.

As you can see by reading, the work never stops here for anyone. We believe that all of this hard work and the efforts put forward are the key to what makes this garden unique and so extensive. The feeling of peace and tranquility you get from this place is so special, it's beyond the written words. Come and experience this magical feeling for yourself. Whether you are visiting Jersey on vacation or a local looking to get away from the every day hustle and bustle, come visit the shell garden and experience the world's greatest monument to innocence and the true spirit of Mankind.
